About Us

John is the manager. He founded Headline Studios in 2009 and has already received great feedback from numerous artists, bands and X Factor wannabies who have recorded to date. John knows Manchester’s music scene well from four years touring as a drummer in an alternative rock band. John set up Headline Studios when he realised that there was a need for a high quality Stockport/Manchester recording facility at a reasonable price. At Headline Studios John runs the show – from booking in artists, recording, mixing and producing. John studied Music Technology at Aquinas College and Sound Engineering and Design at Bolton Univeristy. He is currently completing a 'Music & Creative Industrys Business' Degree Bsc(Hons).
- Brian Mackey
Brian is a freelance producer at Headline Studios, a highly skilled sound engineer, mixer and producer. He is a qualified Pro Tools teacher and is available to book if you have a project that needs the full highend release quality result. Normally price is approx £200 a day, but contact us for a quote.
- Zeb Bowyer – zeb@headlinestudios.co.uk
Zeb is an accomplished musician, Zeb can be hired by bands to play extra guitar pieces if required. You’ll recognise him because he looks a lot like Theo(not surprising given they are twins). Zeb is also an experienced recording technician and mixer.
- Theo Bowyer –
Theo with grade 8 piano skills, and freestyle bass, rhythm or lead guitar – if you want a fuller sound for your band then you might want to consider sticking some Theo into the mix. He also does piano lessons if you’re interested.
- Ian Watson –
Ian has studied sound engineering and is an experienced live engineer and mixer. He works as a 'music missionary'. Prefers the more experimental/alternative side to orignal music and the Rap RnB HipHop side of things. If you’re looking for some extra mixing and mastering then Ian is your man.

Peter Wood – ‘The Business Advisor’
Peter is John’s brother and is an investor in high growth small to medium sized enterprises working for Next Wave Venture Capital. He is also an experience strategy consultant and so helps John to develop Headline Studio’s marketing strategy.
Michael Gilbourne – ‘The Wise One’
Michael has a lifelong experience as a musician, drum tutor and music producer. Michael works with Headline Studios to ensure they are using the latest recording and mixing techniques and equipment. Which they are by the way!
